A fluorinated ketoester derived building block

Used as a ligand in catalytic reaction and synthetic intermediate of pyrimidine for OLEDs, semiconductors and DSSCs

Ethyl (4-fluorobenzoyl)acetate (p-EFBA), CAS number 1999-00-4, the analogue of β-Ketoester, is typically used as a ligand for improving stereoselectivity of catalytic reactions for great chelating ability to metal centres. Ethyl (4-fluorobenzoyl)acetate is an ideal starting material for synthesizing pyrimidine derivatives via Pinner pyrimidine reaction with amidine/guanidine. The iridium complexes formed by those pyrimidine derivatives are used for long lasting blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs). The self-assembled monomer layer of pyrimidine derivatives can engineer the interfacial band of and gold for enhanced device performance in thin film transistors.

Ethyl (4-fluorobenzoyl)acetate can be obtained by the reaction of 4-fluoroacetophenone with diethyl carbonate and sodium hydride as the base in great yield.
